Research Triangle Park


Please see the Rules and Regulations of the Softball Fields and Volleyball Courts:

  • The RTP softball fields may be reserved for RTP league use during league season from 4:30 p.m. until dark Monday through Friday.  Fields may not be reserved by other RTP employees during these times but may be used on a first come, first serve basis on Fridays if the league is not using them.  Portable restrooms will be provided only during the league season.
  • On weekends, a field may be reserved for no more than four hours at a time except for a bona fide company function.
  • Reservations for fields will be accepted no more than two weeks in advance except for a bona fide company function.
  • The bases, fencing and pitchers mounds may not be moved to accommodate children’s leagues.  No temporary fencing or pitchers mounds may be used.
  • Each league, team or person using a facility shall be responsible for litter removal from its facility after each use.  The Service District will be responsible for other litter pickup, with the Research Triangle Foundation as agent.
  • The Service District will be responsible for grass mowing on an as needed basis with the Research Triangle Foundation as agent.
  • Facility maintenance and repair (repainting and turf maintenance for example) will be the responsibility of the Service District with the Research Triangle Foundation as agent.  The Foundation has the right to reduce or cancel for a period the use of facilities in case of overuse.  The Foundation will determine if grass, turf or facilities are being damaged by overuse.
  • Lights, if installed, will be used only for league play.  The appropriate league will be responsible for turning the lights on and off.
  • Light power bills will be the responsibility of the Service District, with the Research Triangle Foundation as agent.
  • Water and sewer bills will be the responsibility of the Service District, with the Research Triangle Foundation as agent.
  • Portable restrooms will be provided only during the league season.
  • The Durham County Sheriff’s Department will patrol the areas as appropriate and has the authority to take any necessary action.  Problems or damage shall be reported to the Sheriff’s Department.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages will not be allowed on the RTP recreation facilities.
